Love and Family: Jada Pinkett-Smith, Mother, and Willow in “Red Table Talk” Mother’s Day 2012
One of my favorite women on the silver screen, Jada Pinkett-Smith, has family on her mind. But, she’s not just doing another interview where she discusses what it’s like to still be married to Will or to raise her beautiful children. Instead, she’s brining to the floor something new and more needed, an intergenerational talk between her, her mother, and her daughter in “Red Table Talk” scheduled to premier this Mother’s Day (May 13th).
Ever since I first saw her in “A Low Down Dirty Shame,” Jada’s spunkiness has captured my attention and mesmerized me for at least a decade now. She had the crassness of a bestfriend, the fiestiness of my favorite tomboy,but the beauty of a model. even though she’s far from 5’9. One thing I have enjoyed the most over the years is her ability to make you laugh in romantic comedies like “Woo,” but also really touch your heart in roles such as “Jason’sLyrics.” She’s not afraid to show her strength while bearing it all on film, not to mention being married to one of the hottest men in the entertainment industry, Will Smith. She’s an entrepreneur, director, artist, and takes a lot of pride in being a great mother.
And this leads us to the subject at hand, “Red Table Talk.” Jada Pinkett-Smith uses this as a good opportunity to discuss love and family with her daugther, Willow Smith, and her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Jones. As mentioned in an interview on Huffington Post, Jada hopes this will be an ongoing conversation where they are able to dwell on the power of family and love amongst the three generations at the Red Table. “For people to be able to sit down together and have a conversation, that’s the power of love. Love is what sometimes holds us and binds us when we’re not happy,” Jada explains.
With the rumors of divorce from Will Smith, criticism regarding the way she raises her beautiful children who are beginning to make their own debuts in the limelight, this is a much needed opportunity for bonding and talking about the real stuff. To know that there are people with celebrity power that wants to use it for the greater good always makes me feel a sense of “society/village/humanity”! I am in LOVE with Jada’s power of self…she’s a continuous source of inspiration in many aspects of life. The fact that she’s living and doing things the way that makes her happy and that makes her family happy, hoping that it makes other’s happy, but not caring either way…that’s epic!
